downtown Waco at Indian Springs Park
Are you ready to raise some money for abandoned animals while being chased by zombies? Fuzzy Friends Rescue will be holding a Zombie Run near downtown Waco at Indian Springs Park on Saturday, Oct. 12.
What exactly is a zombie run? It’s a 5K run where contestants must make it to the end with all three of their flags while being chased by zombies. The zombies do not touch the runners but instead trying to take their lives by stealing flags. In order to qualify for a prize at the end of the run, runners must have at least one flag left.
The McLennan Community College Cosmetology department will be providing all of the makeup work for the zombies.
There will also be a 1K dog walk, no zombies in this one, and a best dog costume contest, best dog trick and dog’s waggiest tail. People are encouraged to bring their dogs, though they must be on a leash.
A prize will also be given to the best zombie costume.
Afterwards there will be shaved ice, Bone Suckerz BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs and Vanilla Bean Shake Shoppe for dessert.
Registration will be held at University Parks and Franklin, opens at 4:30 p.m. and costs $30 for the 5K with the run starting at 5:30 p.m. The 1K pet walk will begin at 5:40 p.m. and costs $15.
